My career in photography started in 1968 as a student while studying at the University of Potchefstroom. I was then majoring in Chemistry and Mathematics for my Bachelors degree. It so happened that I was introduced to Black and White Photography by one of my student friends one morning coming from class. After convincing me to accompany him to the darkroom, I was so overwhelmed as I saw the first black and white print in my life immerge right in front of my eyes in the developer. I was so amazed as I saw chemistry come alive in front of my eyes. I was totally hooked! That’s the reason why I became a Professional Photographer.

While teaching science for three years at Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool in Pretoria, I introduced the boys to the wonderful hobby of Photography.In 1975 I received a lecturing post in the Chemistry Department at the Technikon Pretoria. I later started lecturing Mathematics for the Civil Engineering students. In 1987 I attained my National Diploma in Photography at the Technikon Pretoria, and my Higher Diploma in Photography (Cum Laude), with distinction in 1994.
In 1995 I was introduced to a famous national wedding photographer, Pat Culverwell who had been in the business for the last 58 years and had photographed more than 8500 weddings. Being privileged to work with him for seven years as his assistant, I gained much of his skills and practical knowledge. Under Pat’s knowledgeable supervision and skilful assistance I received my Masters Degree in Wedding Photography in 2002 with the topic Optimal use of time photographing weddings.
As a professional photographer I provide personal service and attention to each valued customer’s requests and needs. My photography is a mixture of elegant, contemporary, romantic, creative fun, night photography and traditional, so there is something for everybody. I spend hours with each couple beforehand to ensure that my coverage is tailored to each couple’s needs. So you can be certain that I will create a wedding album that will always remain a beautiful way to remember.
